Evidence Of A Homicide

Unpublished Image for Vogue Magazine, January 1977

Inside Gem:

Chris von Wangenheim was great friends with Helmut Newton and his wife June Newton. Both Wangenheim and Newton enjoyed escalating their images to compete for shock factor and also loved including little pranks within their images that acknowledged the other. An example is this unpublished image for Vogue that shows evidence of a homicide. You can see the evidence tags showing “Officer H. Newton” as resisting arrest, while the name of the deceased is “Alice Springs” which is June Newtons photographer alias.
